Muggy weather to continue

LAHORE - The plains of Punjab including the City remained in the grip of muggy weather on Thursday with experts predicting the prevailing conditions to persist during the next 24 hours. High temperature and humidity made the weather oppressive, causing the people to sweat throughout the day. On Thursday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 40 degree Celsius and 29.5 C respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 61pc, which decreased to 25pc in the evening. Lahore canal attracted a large number of people throughout the day. Not only youths but also elderly people were seen beating the heat by taking a dip in the canal water. At certain places, even women were seen bathing in the mud colour canal water. According to the experts, weak seasonal low lies over Balochistan and adjoining areas. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and humid weather for most parts of the country including the City during the next 24 hours. On Thursday, Parachinar received 25 mm rain, Drosh and Sara-i-Alamgir 01 mm each while Gilgit received traces of rain.
