LAHORE - NWFP will get a new name after a meeting between PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan expected anytime after the arrival of Nawaz Sharif from London. The proposed names for the Frontier are Pukhtoonkhawa-Abaseen, Pukhtoonkhawa-Khyber or Abaseen-Pukhtoonkhawa and Khyber-Pukhtoonkhawa. PML-N senior leader Khawaja Asif told this while talking to The Nation on Monday. He said ANP insisted on Pukhtoonkhawa as new name for NWFP but PML-N and other political forces of the Frontier did not agree to this name. Kh Asif said political players other than ANP proposed Abassen and Khyber as new names for the Frontier but finally PML-N, ANP and other political forces of NWFP suggested to represent all the identities of the province to avoid any future confrontation by mingling the Pukhtoonkhawa and other names. He said it did not make any difference that new name of the province would begin with Pukhtoonkhawa, however, both the party chiefs would take along all the stakeholders of the province while deciding final name. When contacted, ANP senior leader Zahid Khan confirmed the proposed names of the province saying the name of NWFP would begin with Pukhtoonkhawa. When asked about finalisation of any of the proposed names, he said final decision would be taken in a meeting between Asfand and Nawaz expected anytime this week.
