Rescuers act swiftly

LAHORE - The terrorist attacks, which rocked the City on Thursday, claimed at least 28 lives with injuries to more than 70 others. The terrorists targeted sensitive installations including FIA provincial headquarters, Police Training Centre Manawan and Elite Police Training Centre at Bedian. According to a Rescue 1122 press release, the District Emergency Control Room received information of FIA building attack at 9:40 am from a resident of Safanwala Chowk, on which an ambulance reached the spot within two minutes. It further stated that the control room received some calls about the terrorist attacks at Police Tainting Centre Manawan and Elite Police Training Centre around 9:55 am and 9:56 am respectively. More ambulances were ordered to move towards the sites and arrived there in 14 to 15 minutes, and rescued the injured persons in spite of the fact that gun battles were going on. According to the Rescue 1122 spokesman, they received seven dead bodies that included two FIA officials, four civilians (among them 2 were applicant for recruitment) and a unidentified body (likely to be a terrorist) from FIA building and shifted them to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The wounded persons shifted by the rescue service were: Muhammad Siddique, Muhammad Riaz, Syed Ikraam, Zaheer Afzal, Shahzad Younas, Rana Farooq and a 30-year-old unknown person. And from the Elite Police Training Centre Bedian, at least 10 injured persons were rushed to Lahore General Hospital, Avicena Medical Hospital, Services Hospital and Ghurki Hospital, while six dead bodies including one policeman, a barber of the training facility, and four unknown likely terrorists were shifted to Mayo Hospital. The names of injured persons are: Farooq Abbas, Suhail, Ajmal Butt, Iftikhar, Naazish, Wasim, Muhammad Ilyas and Ghulam Abbas. One of hem is unidentified so far, while Ghulam Jaffar succumbed to injuries at a local hospital. The rescue personnel recovered 12 dead bodies (including three unknown terrorists) and 28 injured people from Manawan Police Training Centre. The injured persons were identified as Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Iftikhar, Muhammad Hanif, Mudassar Iqbal, Muhammad Ashfaq, Basharat, Muhammad Asif, Waheed, Wasim Abbas, Muzammil Hussain, Sajjad Hussain, Fazil, Adnan Munawar, Shahid, Muhammad Razzaq, Nadeem Siddique, Sher Muhammad, Nasir, Tariq Mehmood, Kalimullah, Syed Nasir Ali, Amir Ali, Ashfaq, Dildar Ali, Shahab Ali, Iftikhar Hussain, Yousaf Ali and Sabir Ali. The expired persons include: Salamat Ali (35), Tahir (25), Muhammad Aslam, Zahid Ali Shah (22), Sher Muhammad (42), Nasrullah Khan (24) and Anwar Ali (45).
