CCPO orders AVLS restructuring

LAHORE - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Capt (retd) Muhammad Amin Wains has ordered the restructuring of the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS), a wing of the Lahore police supposed to smash the gangs involved in auto-lifting.
A police spokesman said that the AVLS department has been withdrawn from the SP CRO and it is placed under the administrative control of SP Mujahid. The purpose of this initiative is to improve the working of the AVLS.  The CCPO issued these instructions while presiding over a joint meeting of Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff and Mujahid Squad.  While addressing the meeting, CCPO said that no AVLS officer or official would set up pickets outside Lahore till further orders and no picket in the provincial metropolis would be established without laptop.  He said that instead of leased vehicles, focus should be laid on the recovery of stolen or snatched vehicles.
The AVLS has been divided into three sections. City and Civil Lines would be in Sector-I and it will be headed by DSP-I who will have his office at Misri Shah. Similarly, Cantonment and Gulberg divisions will be in Gulberg sector and its in-charge will be DSP-II who will perform the duties at Police Station Gulberg.  Sector-III will comprise Sadr and Iqbal Town divisions and it will be headed by DSP-III who will have his office at Police Station Mustafa Town.  All three AVLS DSPs will be given separate lockups and interrogation centers.
