GCU orientation event

LAHORE - Government College University on Monday organised an orientation ceremony in the historical Bukhari Auditorium to encourage and motivate the newly-admitted Intermediate students to surpass the high benchmarks set by their Ravian predecessors.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman impressed upon them the multifarious responsibilities that they are expected to shoulder as promising young students as well as the ultimate hope for the future of Pakistan. He advised the students that rather than bemoaning the gloomy circumstances, they must personally contribute towards the betterment of society.  “It is up to the individual to take personal initiative rather than blaming fate,” he added.  Prof Rahman told students that Pakistan’s atomic bomb and missile system were designed by Ravians who were working at the international organisations like NASA and sacrificed their jobs and millions of dollars in salaries just to serve their motherland.
The Vice Chancellor drew their attention to their inherent talent that could help them trace the footsteps of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Dr Abdus Salam, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Dr. Samar Mubarikmand who are all distinguished Old Ravians. He advised the students to give their best to acquire knowledge, telling them that the reward is always going to be proportionate to their efforts.
Prof Rahman reiterated the commitment that GCU would leave no stone unturned for development of country in the realm of research and education.
