Notices issued to PCB, Bari

LAHORE - Civil Court on Wednesday issued notices to the defendants on a suit filed against Pakistan Cricket Board through its chairman Ijaz Butt and Wasim Bari by Dr Farooq Hassan, Bar-at-Law. The petitioner has sought attachment of the defendants' property for the satisfaction of the matter he has already filed against them for the recovery of Rs 5.50 crore and $92,000, allegedly for the non-payment of the fee in respect of the professional services he rendered to the PCB in the month-long inquiry held at the level of Lahore High Court into the attack on the Sri Lankan team in March 2009. The ICC is also a party in this matter. The petitioner feared that defendants may be dismissed by the government any time, making it difficult for him to make good recovery of the said amount. After hearing the preliminary argument, the Civil Court of Shahbaz Hussain Ranjha issued notices to the two defendants to appear before the court on January 18, 2011. The property, the petitioner has sought for attachment, includes three land cruisers, four toyota cars, their own houses in Gulberg, Lahore, Gujrat and Karachi as well as their salaries and bank accounts.
