Entry of vehicles with worn-out tyres banned

LAHORE – The National Highways and Motorway Police is running a campaign to curb the use of sub-standard and worn out tyres, which are a leading cause of accidents on the motorway.
The campaign was launched in the sector M-2 (South) & M-3 of Motorway Zone, during which tyres of the vehicles intending to ply on motorway were being checked with the help of tread-measuring-gauges.
Sector Commander Nisar Ahmed Saroya directed the patrolling officers to restrict the entry of the vehicle which have worn-out or sub-standard tyres. He further urged the general public to retire the dead tyres timely and to use the tyres of some standardised company.
Mr. Nisar said that though the weather has settled down, chances of fog cannot be ruled out until the end of February. Due to this reason, all precautionary measures should be adopted for safe journey on motorway.
