Kinnaird College holds 75th Convocation


LAHORE - The Kinnaird College for Women held its 75th Convocation on Friday at its Perin Boga Amphitheatre with PM Yousaf Raza Gillani as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony was presided by Board of Governors Chairman and Lahore Bishop Dr Alexander John Malik. While addressing the graduates, the Bishop said that values taught by the institution would help the students not only in professional lives but also at their personal ends. KC Principal Dr Rukhsana David congratulated the graduates and said that the college was proud of them as most of them either had joined the workforce or were going for PhDs. She said that the institution had bagged 10 top positions in the Intermediate Examinations. She said that the institution was successfully running 10 M.Phil and 3 Masters Programs and all the programs maintained high standards. From next academic session, she added, the college planned to introduce PhD program in English Literature and Environmental sciences, M.Phil in Food Sciences and Human Nutrition and a Bachelors program in law.
The Chief Guest awarded degrees to 221 students of post graduation and 280 students of graduation. Mira Phailbus gold medal was awarded to Tehreem Arslan Aurakzai of English Literature, Isakhel gold medal was awarded to Hafiza Maria Aftab of Environmental Sciences, Boswell gold medal was awarded to Zara Raza of Zoology.
Lily Najmuddin dramatics gold medal was awarded to Jahan Leena Masood of Media studies, Asma Jamil debates gold medal was awarded to Osheen Fatima, Anwarul Haq pure sciences gold medal was awarded to Ayesha Munir of Chemistry, Angoori Humanities gold medal was awarded to Neha Zariq of English Literature, SM Zafar social sciences gold medal was awarded to Summeya Sauleh of Political Science and Qazi Mohammad Fareed professional studies gold medal was awarded to Mirha Masood of Business Studies.
