LAHORE Due to poor security arrangements for the protection of students and staffers in Punjab University, an alleged gang of abductors attempted to kidnap the daughter of a female faculty member of the Social Work Department on gunpoint on Wednesday. The move spread panic among the female students, who have expressed their partial un-satisfaction over the administration of the Punjab University. The incident took place in front of Boys Hostels gate no-08 around 2pm in presence of dozens of the students. Muslim Town police, however, claimed the abductors belonged to a raiding party from Phalia Police Station, who arrived herein the City to arrest the female professor namely Madam Aalia Khalid. Reportedly, she is wanted in a case lodged against her under section 499-F of PPC in aforesaid police station. They further claimed all of the accused - Umar Phalia, Ali Muhammad Phalia, Ansaar Ahmed Bajwa, Asif Nawaz, M Arshad, Wasif Nawaz and Imtiaz Ahmed Cheema - were policemen. Earlier, seven men equipped with automatic sophisticated weapons while riding two white Honda Civics (FPB-9750 and FPC-364) intercepted the professor and held her hostage.
