CCPO for intensifying crackdown against POs

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE CCPO directed the City Police to intensify the crackdown launched against proclaimed offenders in order to rid the society of crime and criminal elements. According to an official statement issued here on Wednesday, during the last 10 months from January 2011 to October, Lahore Police had arrested 19,568 POs and 12,275 Court Absconders (CAs), who were wanted in 623 cases of murder, 542 cases of attempted murder, 582 cases of dacoities, 1,474 cases of robbery, 2,243 of theft and 14,104 other cases. Around 12,275 CAs, who were wanted in 26 cases of murder, 144 cases of attempted murder, 42 cases of dacoities, 261 cases of robbery, 650 cases of theft, were also arrested, whereas 11,152 CAs involved in other cases had also been nabbed. CCPO said that Lahore Police had only a single point agenda of eradicating, eliminating and uprooting the scourge of crime and vanquishing gangs involved in heinous crimes, so that the citizens could live in a peaceful atmosphere. THREE UNLICENSED RIFLES, 131 BULLETS RECOVERED: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have recovered three unlicensed rifles, 131 bullets, 20 litters liquor and arrested eight culprits from different areas of the Punjab on Wednesday. According to the detail, PHP team Pipliwala, Gujranwala recovered 1 rifle (44-bore) along with 87 bullets from the possession of Ghulam Farid. PHP team Uggo Chak, Gujranwala recovered 1 rifle (12 bore) along with 40 cartridges from the possession of Ghulam Murtaza and recovered 1 rifle (12 bore) along with 4 cartridges from the possession of Muhammad Yousaf. PHP team Adda Noor Shah, T.T Singh recovered 20 liters liquor from the possession of two accused persons namely Iqbal Masih and Rafique Masih. PHP team Tahirabad, Jhang also arrested a drunkard man namely Qalab Abbas and PHP Bahawalnagar apprehended 2 drunkard men namely Umar Hayyat and Muhammad Younis.
