LHC takes action against 10 judicial officers

LAHORE - The administrative committee of the Lahore High Court on Saturday decided to promote and demote various judicial officers in view of their performance and reputation besides removing one and initiating disciplinary action against ten others on the charges of professional misconduct. The meeting was headed by Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif. The committee promoted two additional district and sessions judges to the rank of district and sessions judges which include Hafeez Ullah Khan of Sammundri and Abid Hussain of Pindi Bhattian. A civil judge Saeed Ahmad Awan, currently posted in Yazman, has been removed from service and a major penalty of compulsory retirement from service imposed on an AD&SJ Gabriel Francis of Bhakkar. The meeting also imposed major penalty of reduction to a lower grade and post from civil judge 1st class (BS-18) to civil judge 3rd class (BS-17) on Akram-ul-Haq Ch, civil judge class-I of Kehror Lal Esan for a period of two years. It issued notice to Civil Judge Khanewal Muhammad Tariq, and Civil Judge Mianwali Sharafat Ali Nasir for enhancement of minor penalty. The committee decided to initiate fresh inquiry against two civil judges, already made officer on special duty (OSD) which include Faiz Ahmed Ranjha and Faisal Jamil. It resolved to initiate disciplinary proceedings against 10 judicial officers on different charges. They included M Khalid Mehmood Warraich, civil judge, Amjad Ali Shah, AD&SJ Muhammad Shafique Butt, AD&SJ Sarwat Mumtaz Syeda, Civil Judges Muhammad Saleem Sheikh, Muhammad Aslam, Amir Mukhtar Gondal, Khuda Yar, Manzar Hayat and AD&SJ Muhammad Shafique Chaudhry. The committee dropped disciplinary proceedings against AD&SJ Khushab Muhammad Ittefaq Abbasi, AD&SJ Lodhran Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Civil Judge Chishtian Barkat Ali, and Civil Judge Malakwal Ilyas Raza Nasir. Recommendation of examination committee for appointment of Muhammad Yousaf as civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate was also rejected by the administration committee for his involvement in immoral activities.
