LAHORE - PTI district leaderships will start awarding tickets for the second phase of local bodies’ polls next week, a party leader told The Nation yesterday.
Party’s Punjab organiser with the consultation of his aides in provincial setup had authorised the district leaderships to award tickets for local bodies’ candidates. District committees had also been formed to look into the complaints concerning the award of ticket to a favourite or weak candidate. The provincial organisation has the role to oversee the entire process and the cases in which some leaders received funds for their personal benefits while awarding tickets. According to the Election Commission schedule the second phase of local bodies’ polls will take place on November 19. Nomination papers will be received from September 13 to 17, while scrutiny of the papers will be carried out from Sept 26 to October 1.
Appeals against nominations will be received until Oct 6, while appeals will be decided by the tribunals by Oct 12. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be Oct 13, after which the revised final list of candidates along with electoral symbols will be announced on Oct 14.
In the second phase polling will be held on Nov 19 in Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, M.B.Din, Attock and Jhelum districts.
In the first phase local bodies’ polls to be held on October 31, Lahore, Chakwal, Lodhran, Vehari, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahwalnagar, Faisalabad, Bhakar, Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Gujrat districts.
