Rs33.54b approved for development

LAHORE - The governing body of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday approved the annual budget of LDA and its subordinate agencies Wasa and Tepa for the fiscal year 2014-15.
Total resources of these working bodies have been estimated at Rs33.54 billion out of which Rs22 billion have been earmarked for development works.
LDA Vice Chairman Kh Ahmad Hassan chaired the meeting, attended by members of provincial assembly DG LDA Ahad Cheema, MD Wasa Ch Naseer Ahmad and other officials besides the representatives of the provincial Local Government, Housing, P&D and Finance department.
Total resources of LDA (Urban Development Wing) during the fiscal year 2014-15 have been estimated at Rs13.32b against the expected expenditures of Rs13.21b. This amount will also include development expenditure of Rs11.19b. An amount of Rs1.93b will be spent for development works in LDA housing Schemes. An expenditure of Rs1.67b will be incurred on running development schemes. A total of Rs4.16b has been allocated for kicking off new projects in the provincial metropolis: including Rs2.94b for total funding of new projects and Rs1.16b for LDA’s contribution in Public Private Participation Projects.
Construction of Missing links of Structure Plan Roads will cost Rs700m. Improvement and rehabilitation of the carriage way Southern Bypass from Thokar Niaz Baig to Ameer Chowk will be carried out at a cost of Rs140m. Project for construction of Signal Free Corridors Jail Road, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam and Main Boulevard Gulberg will be executed with a sum of Rs1500m. Construction of pedestrian bridges at signal free corridors will cost Rs150m. A sum of Rs150m will be spent on construction of two Lane Dual Carriage Way from Ferozepur Road to Jinnah Flyover along Railway Track. An amount of Rs200m has been earmarked for priority works in the new budget.
For Development Schemes under PPP mode, a sum of Rs1.16b has been allocated. An amount of Rs500m has been reserved as LDA’s share for construction of Hussain Chowk Flyover on cost sharing basis; Rs360m for Defence Road Flyover; Rs100m for Sharaqpur Bypass; Rs100m for Kala Shah Kaku Expressway; and another Rs100m for Southern Bye-pass; while other development schemes will cost Rs1.38b. A sum of Rs1.22b will be spent on dualization of road from LOS to Multan Road. Restoration of LDA Plaza up to 6th floor, Egerton Road Lahore will cost Rs240m.
Tepa will have a total of Rs6.16b at its disposal whereas its expenditure has been estimated as Rs5.43b including development works costing Rs5.16b.
Link connecting Motorway at Shahpur Kanjra to Raiwind Road and Khayaban-e-Jinnah will be constructed at a cost of Rs1.22b.
Construction of Kasur Bypass connecting Ferozepur Road to Depalpur Road will be executed with a sum of Rs890m. Construction of Kasur Sports Complex will cost Rs270m. Construction of Hockey Stadium at Sheikhupura as well as at Nanka Sahib will cost Rs147m each. A total of Rs6.3m will be spent on other ongoing projects.
Wasa is excepting total receipts of Rs14.05b in the financial year 2014-15, while it will spend Rs14.89b including Rs5.63b for development schemes. Replacement of outlived water supply lines in various localities of the city will cost Rs800m. Installation of 13 new tube-wells will cost Rs180m. A sum of Rs440m will be spent for installation of 100 water filtration plants in the city. Improvement of Water supply system in MA Johar Town and Tajpura through Zoning/Isolation, Installation of Filtration plants and 100 per cent metering (Bulk, Distribution and Consumer Levels), Lahore will cost Rs1.6b. Construction of RCC conduit sewer from Shoukat Khanum Hospital Chowk to Sattu Katla Drain will cost Rs800m. Laying of Sewer lines, Construction of Drain and Disposal Station for Niaz Baig Drainage system UC-118 will be executed in Rs1.5b.
