LHC conditionally allows former PM Ashraf to contest polls

Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday conditionally allowed former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to contest elections from NA-51.
The court has ordered to include his name in the final list of contesting candidates.
During hearing Farooq H. Naek, Latif Khosa, Ahsan Bhon and Abid Saqi were appeared before the court.
Earlier, Ashraf had challenged his disqualification in the Lahore High Court earlier today. In his plea, Ashraf had contended that there was no reference in the National Accountability Bureau nor was he convicted in the Rental Power case, therefore, the verdict of the Election Tribunal be annulled.
The Election Tribunal on Monday had dismissed the appeal of the former prime minister against the rejection of his nomination papers from NA-51 and declared him ineligible to contest elections.
