QUETTA - Three more children, who were administered substandard measles vaccine in Qila Saifullah district, died on Friday bringing the death toll to six in two days.
Several children were reported to be in critical condition while three died after they were injected vaccines for protection from measles on Thursday. The children were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment.
Abdul Qadir, the medical officer of children ward in Civil Hospital, said the vaccine was not substandard. Doctors said several affected children were still under treatment in Quetta hospital. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the casualties due to substandard vaccination of measles in Qila Saifullah district. PM taking notice of the incident has sought report from the department concerned and ordered for arrest of culprits behind the incident.
