LAHORE – Dacoits on Sunday continued their looting spree, robbed three residences at gunpoint in different parts of the City, and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth millions of rupees, police sources claimed.
Armed bandits barged in to the house of Malik Iftikhar in the Defense-A police area and took away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 800,000 after holding the inmates’ hostage at gunpoint.
Gunmen forced their entry into house of Zaheer-Uddin in the Raiwind police area and escaped after snatching cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 600,000.
Four robbers stormed into the residence of Salman in the Shahdara Town area and fled away after collecting cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 400,000 at gunpoint.
Robbers riding on motorcycles also looted motorists, families, and passersby in the Johar Town, Islampura, Mochi Gtae, Shafiqabad, and Mughalpura police areas and escaped after snatching cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, three cars were driven away from Defense, Chuhng and Ghaziabad police areas while two motorcycles were stolen away from Nolakha and Garhi Shahu police limits. The police are investigating.
Meanwhile, the Punjab police have denied the reports that Shahbaz Taseer, the son of slain Governor Salman Taseer, was freed by the abductors a day after the local news TV channels reported the ‘developing story.’
“The reports on air in this regard are baseless. We don’t have such information,” a police spokesperson said, when contacted.
Some news channels claimed that the militants released Shahbaz after a deal involving millions in cash and swap of prisoners as well.
In august 2011, the son of late Governor Punjab had been snatched away by armed militants from the posh Gulberg locality. His whereabouts are not clear since he had been abducted.
