LAHORE - The Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court has rejected the appeal of Hameedullah, a terrorist of banned organisation and upheld the decision of a trial court.
A special anti-terrorism court of Rawalpindi had awarded the accused 69 times death sentence, life imprisonment and imprisonment of 10 years 80 times on January 1, 2011.
Hameed was arrested from Wah Cant’s entrance gate immediately after two suicide attacks on August 21, 2008. He was also a suicide attacker who failed to blast his jacket and was arrested in injured condition along with suicide jacket and hand grenade. 69 people lost their lives while 44 were injured in the blast.
The bench, comprising Justice Sikandar Zulqernain Saleem and Justice Khalid Mahmood Malik, rejected the appeal of the accused and upheld the full sentence of ATC Rawalpindi II in PPC 302, 324, 435, 436, 122-B, 7ATA and sections 4 & 5 of Explosive substances Act. Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Usman represented the state in the case and convicted the terrorists.
