Punjab 'following footsteps of Centre

LAHORE (PR) - Following the footsteps of the Federal government, the provincial government seems to have also started defiance of the court orders as Punjab Excise and Taxation Department Secretary did not accept the stay orders issued by the Lahore High Court in favour of an under-transfer director. According to the details, Excise and Taxation Department Director for Bahawalpur Division, Sarfraz Wafa was transferred by Secretary Shumail Ahmad Khawaja some two weeks ago and posted as additional secretary but the director went to the court and pleaded the court that he had been transferred by the same authority four times in a year. He prayed to the court that he may be allowed to complete his tenure at the present posting. Resultantly, the court awarded him 60 days stay for holding the post. However, Shumail Khawaja without paying any heed to the court order removed the director from his seat and posted Khalid Sadique in his place. Interestingly, Khalid Sadique is working at the post without formally taking the charge from his predecessor. When the scribe contacted the Secretary and the Director to obtain their version both of them refused to give their comments.
