LAHORE - Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has reiterated that the struggle against polio will continue till eradication of the disease.
Talking to the residents of Shafiqabad Bund Road area after administering the polio campaign, Salman appealed to the people for participating enthusiastically in the government’s struggle against polio and got vaccinated their children to prevent them from permanent disability.
EDO Health Lahore Dr Zulfiqar Ali, DDO (Health) Data Ganj Baksh Town and other officers were present on the occasion. Salman administered polio drops to the children and distributed handbills to the public to highlight the importance of immunization.
EDO Health informed that 160 thousand children was the target in 23 union councils, for which 1200 teams have been constituted. He said that the campaign would continue in Lahore until the environmental samples of Lahore were reported negative. He disclosed that another one-day anti polio campaign would be launched on July 24.
Meanwhile, he also visited Jinnah hospital to inquire after the health of injured police official, wounded during anti terrorist operation in Raiwind. He directed to the hospital administration for provision of best treatment facilities and special care to the personnel. Talking to the media, Salman said that terrorists would be rooted out from the country and said that whole nation is standing behind the Pakistan Army and law enforcing agencies.
