LAHORE - A bomb blast of low intensity created panic among the residents of Kot Shabuddin, Shahdara on Wednesday leaving one woman injured and damaging windowpanes as well as doors of various houses. According to eyewitnesses, the bomb was planted in a car parked outside a house, which went off early on Wednesday at 4:00am early in the morning when people were asleep. A woman, Zarina Bibi was injured by a broken glass. The blast also created a crater on the road. Rescue 1122 and police officials said the bomb was planted in a car parked in the street number 3, Jinnah Park near the house of one Ishtiaq Ahmed, who was also owner of the car, which was completely damaged in the blast. A large number of people reached at the spot in panic to know about the incident. A Bomb Disposal Squad official said that around 10kg explosive was used in the blast incident. SP City Division said a team of police officials have been given assignment to know motives of the unidentified accused to carry out blast in a street of Shahdara area where no important public building or sensitive installations were situated. Shahdara Police SHO Khalid Mahmood said a case has been registered against unknown terrorists on the complaint of the owner of the car. The SHO said according to the complainant, he parked the car in the street at 9:00pm on Tuesday after locking its doors and went inside the home to sleep. He said early on Wednesday he heard a huge blast in the street and as he rushed to the spot he found his car had been damaged completely. He told the police that unknown accused might have planted explosive in his car after breaking its doors. DIG directed to investigate khyzer's death Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the DIG (Inspection & Vigilance), Ahsan Mehboob to investigate the death of youth Khyzer Masood and submit a report in this regard. According to the Spokesman of the Punjab Police, the IGP took notice of the death of Khyzer Masood reported in a section of the local press in which the heirs of the deceased alleged that police officials of P.S. North Cantt in connivance with accused party tortured Khyzer. Tariq Saleem also directed the DIG (I&V) to take strict disciplinary action against the concerned police officials in the light of the inquiry report.
