LAHORE - Being requested by the Punjab government, Lahore High Court chief justice on Tuesday named Justice Ali Baqar Najfi as the head of one-man tribunal to hold judicial inquiry into the killings of Pakistan Awami Tehrik workers.
At least 10 people died and 80 others got injured in severe clash between the PAT workers and police when the later tried to remove barriers outside Mihajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town. The Punjab government had requested the Lahore High Court chief justice to appoint a judge for holding a judicial inquiry in the incident.
Chief Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad constituted the inquiry tribunal under section 3 of the Punjab Tribunals of Inquiry Ordinance, 1969.
