LAHORE - Different human rights organisations, religious and political parities and civil society activists Friday staged protest rallies to express solidarity with Kashmiris independence movement besides condemning the Indian atrocities. In this connection, Kashmir Action Committee (KAC) organised a rally at Nasir Bagh. Different parties including All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Peoples Muslim League, Pakistan Peoples Party Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Social Welfare Association, International Khatam-e-Nabuwat, Shabab-e-Milli and a large number of people of civil society were also present on the occasion. The participants condemned the recent atrocities and violations of human rights committed by Indian forces in the occupied Kashmir. The KAC rally was led by Justice (r) Syed Sharif Hussain Bukhari, Air martial (r) Khurshid Anwar Mirza, Justice (r) Nasira Iqbal, Begum Memona Azam, Begum Rahat Saeed-u-Din, Farooq Azad and others. We the people of Jammu and Kashmir living in Lahore have brought out this procession to show our solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to express our condemnation on the atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian armed forces the protesters said. They said during the last three and half months more than 100 Kashmiris were martyred and hundreds others were wou-nded and tortured during these brutal incidents. They urged the UNO and OIC to take immediate notice and play their imperative role to stop killings of innocent Kashmiris. The protesters also urged UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to convene Security Council meeting and take appropriate measure under Chapter VI of the UN. Meanwhile, Human Rights Society of Pakistan (HRSP) organised a protest demonstration at Regal Chowk. Addressing the rally chairman HRSP SM Zafar said the recent movement in Kashmir was peaceful having more intensity than last movements of Kashmirs independence. He said it was regretful that international community was mum over Indian barbarism in Kashmir. He said some serious segments of Indian society have realised the passion and intensity in recent Kashmir Independence Movement and they were also demanding Kashmir Liberation. Ameer Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees Hafiz Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer while addressing a gathering at Lawrence Road said that the PPP-led government should play its active role to liberate innocent Kashmiris. He said all religious and political forces of Pakistan should also unite and take mutual step and force the government to play its role. Tehrik-e-Azadi Jamu and Kashmir (TAJK) also held a protest at Chuburgi Chowk wherein a good number of protesters chanted slogans against brutality of Indian forces in Kashmir. On the occasion, leader of Jamat-u-Dawa Maulana Ame-er Hamza and Chairman TAJK Hafiz Saif Ullah Mansoor said Indian forces had failed to crush the Independence Movement of Kashmir. They said Pakistani rulers should play their role to show the real face of India to the world community. They said millions of Kashmi-ris have sacrificed their lives for independence and their sacrifices would ultimately proved fruitful. They further said UN silence on the issue was shameful and the Muslims rulers should boycott UN if it would not take steps against India.
