Power shortfall increases to 4100 MW

LAHORE- Power shortfall increased to 4100 Megawatt across the country due to increase in debt of independent power plants (IPPs) and oil companies.

According to sources, the government failed to provide arrears to IPPs and oil companies. The IPPs are also facing shortage of fuel as oil companies reduced the supply, decreasing electricity generation.

If the government fails to pay the outstanding bills and the loan, a severe electricity crisis in the country will be inevitable.

Currently, urban areas are facing seven hours of usual and 12 hours of unannounced outages. On the other hand, the rural areas have more than 15 hours of load shedding daily.
