LAHORE - After objecting to maintainability, the registrar office of the Lahore High Court refused to entertain a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here on Friday.
Iqtidar Shah, a local resident, filed the petition, saying he had made several attempts to hold a meeting with the prime minister over a matter, but to no avail. He added the court had directed the PM to hear his contentions for celebrating Independence Day on 27th of Ramazan instead of August 14. The petitioner said that despite the court orders, the prime minister did not give him time to hear his contentions regarding celebration of the Independent Day on 27th of Ramazan instead of 14th August. He sought proceedings under contempt law against the PM.
The registrar office, however, refused to entertain the petition, saying the court could not interfere in personal matters of a prime minister or an ordinary person.
