LAHORE - Dacoits on Saturday struck the provincial metropolis for more than 17 times in separate incidents and made off with cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, and other valuables worth three million rupees besides two cars and three motorcycles, police sources claimed.
Four gunmen riding on a pair of motorcycles stopped a car-riding family in the limits of Race Course police. They held up Rafique and his wife at gunpoint and fled after snatching cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, and foreign currency worth Rs1.4 million.
The police are investigating with no arrest made yet.
Four robbers, including a girl, stopped Javed at gunpoint near the residence of Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the GOR Colony on Saturday evening. On showing resistance, the gunmen also gave a good thrash to the LHC official, who was going to deliver some files at the judge’s house. The bandits snatched a mobile phone worth Rs26,000 from him and fled on their motorcycles. The police are investigating.
Three robbers broke into the house of Afzal in Gulshan-e-Ravi police precincts, held hostage the family members and escaped after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth Rs700,000.
Two motorcyclists held up Qamar at gunpoint in Naseerabad and fled after snatching Rs 350,000 from him. The police reached the spot after the robbers had escaped.
Three gunmen riding on a motorcycle stopped Hamid Butt in Islampura police vicinity. He was deprived of Rs 385,000 at gunpoint. Similarly, two motorcyclists held up Nadeem at gunpoint in Harbanspura and snatched away Rs 100,000 from him.
Robbers equipped with pistols and riding on motorcycles also looted passersby and motorists in different parts of the provincial metropolis. Police sources further revealed that Saleem was deprived of Rs110,000 in Millat Park, Raheel was robbed of Rs150,000 in Sabzazar, and Rustam was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs60,000 in the Iqbal Town police jurisdiction.
Also, two gunmen stanched away Rs52,000 from Sibtain in Hanjarwal, three robbers took away Rs50,000 from Mahmood in Defence-B. Faizan was robbed of Rs100,000 in Nishtar Colony, Saad was deprived of Rs200,000 in Johar Town, and gunmen snatched away Rs 25,000 from Asghar in Chuhng police limits.
Meanwhile, three motorcycles and two cars were reported to be stolen away from different parts of the metropolis on Saturday. The police are investigating.
