LAHORE – Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg organised an awareness seminar on Dengue Fever. MPA Saba Sadiq was invited as chief guest to the occasion here on Saturday.While addressing the seminar, Saba Sadiq appreciated the research done by Dr. Nusrat Jehan Ara on dengue fever and said that people could play a vital role in curbing the menace of dengue. The college principal Dr. Samia Kalsoom said that the objective of the seminar is to curtail Dengue Fever which has become a fatal disease in the country. She asserted that students should learn about the preventive measures, symptoms and treatment to stop Dengue from becoming a fatal disease this year again. On the occasion, head of GCU Zoology Department Dr Nusrat Jehan Ara delivered a lecture on dengue fever. She talked about environmental management, vector control measures and methods. She said that there was need of biological control rather than chemical control of the vector. Another seminar on ‘combating dengue’ was held at the Government College Township, where the college principal Dr Muhammad Ijaz Butt, welcomed Chief Coordinator Chief Minister’s Dengue Awareness Expedition Shaista Parvez Malik and Secretary Social Welfare, Women Development and Bait-ul-Maal Sardar Akram Javed.
