PTI presses ECP to check pre-poll rigging

LAHORE - PTI has demanded from the Election Commission to take notice of the pre-poll rigging practices in NA-137 ahead of by-polls in an effort to ensure transparent election in the said constituency.
PTI Punjab president Ijaz Chaudhary and PTI-backed candidate from NA-137, Brigadier (r) Ijaz Shah, made this demand while addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Wednesday. They said that they have written a letter to the Election Commission with regard to the pre-poll rigging practices of the ruling party but the commission had not bothered to take notice of their compliant so far.
They alleged that Punjab government was using the officials of the province and public funds for pre-poll rigging, while the federal and provincial cabinet members of the ruling party were violating the elections rules and regulations freely.
They said that millions of rupees funds had been allocated to the ruling party’s MPAs in District Nankana ahead of the by-polls in NA-137, which was a clear indication of rigging practices.
They alleged that the incumbent government took power by employing rigging during 2013 general elections and claimed that PTI had launched the biggest ever campaign to reform the electoral system in the history of the country.
