GCU students to get Rs 1m scholarship

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Allied Bank of Pakistan on Monday donated Rs one million to the Government College University Endowment Fund Trust for initiating a life-time golden scholarship for deserving students. The perpetual golden scholarship to be named after the Allied Bank of Pakistan will be given to a GCU deserving student every year on merit. The scholarship will cover the university fee as well as the hostel expenses of a student. ABP executive Zia Ijaz handed over the cheque of Rs one million to GCU EFT Executive Committee Secretary Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt. This is the second golden scholarship donated by the ABP to GCU Endowment Fund Trust and they have pledged to donate a scholarship every year, so that deserving students can continue their studies without any financial burden, Dr Butt said. The trust secretary said that GCU EFT had received as many as 31 scholarships up till now which include 15 golden and 16 sliver scholarships. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ikramul Haq has expressed gratitude on the donation of Rs one million by ABL, saying that other banks should also come forward and support the quality education in the country.
