Elahi grills govt over security lapse

LAHORE - PML-Q Punjab president Ch Pervaiz Elahi has strongly criticised the performance of Punjab government in curbing terror activities in the province.
“Despite precise information given to Punjab government by the intelligence agencies, terrorists entered the province and targeted the churches,” the PML-Q leader said while talking to media on Wednesday. Minorities, particularly the Christians, always feel insecurity during PML-N government, as the Gojra incident in 2009 followed by Youhanabad event carried out under the PML-N rule, he added.
Quoting an international report, Elahi said that 14 thousand Christians had applied for shelter in Europe from 2009 to 2014, as the Punjab government had miserably failed to provide protection to the life and property of the minorities.
“All those who died in Youhanabad incident were Pakistanis and the government is bound to provide them protection, which it didn’t,” he added.
