LAHORE - Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA) three-day Theatre Festival kicked off yesterday featuring two entertaining theatrical performances at Hazoori Bagh.
The three-day festival was well attended on the commencing day by students of various universities and people from all walks of life. On the occasion, WCLA director general Kamran Lashari along with various literary personalities was present to support the students and professional theatre group performances.
With aim to promote tourism and cultural activities in the Lahore’s walled city the first day of the theatre festival play ‘Shah’ was presented before the audience by Punjab University students. The play gained huge round of applause. The other play which was presented was ‘Aj Akhaan Waris Shah Nu’ by Sufi Tabassum Academy who also gained appreciation from the theatre lovers in the form of huge applaud.
On the second day (today) of the festival ‘Gorak Dhanda’ by University of Management and Technology, ‘Roshni’ by National College of Arts (NCA) and ‘Pyar Ek Khel Shezadon Ka’ by Allama Iqbal Open University would be present. WCLA officials said theatre festival at the historic Hazuri Bagh (garden) will disseminate positive image of the country in the world and we are omitted to revive the cultural activities in walled city areas.
“These kinds of platforms are ideal to promote the young generation talent; the event festival would be historic in terms of remarkable presentations from the theater groups, and with huge participation from the general public,” they added.
