Rs50 million robbed in 24 hours

LAHORE - Dacoits continued their looting spree in the provincial metropolis on Thursday and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs50 million, police sources claimed. Two cars and 10 motorcycles were also stolen away from various parts of Lahore.
According to police sources, five dacoits barged into the house of Mrs. Imtiaz in Officers Colony in the Factory Area police precincts. The gangsters held up the lady and her children at gunpoint and snatched away national and foreign currency and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.9 million. The police reached the spot when the dacoits had escaped. Police are investigating with no arrest made yet.
A car-rider Fahad Ali was on his way home when two motorcyclists stopped him at gunpoint in City Raiwind police area. He was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs 475,000.
Two robbers equipped with pistols and riding on a motorcycle intercepted another car-rider in Shalimar police vicinity. The bandits fled away after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs 355,000.
Motorcyclists held up Abdul Ghafoor at gunpoint in Mochi Gate and took away Rs 255,000. The bandits also thrashed the victim for offering resistance during a road robbery.
Aasia Bibi told Islampura police that she was on her way to a market when two motorcyclists stopped her and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 200,000 at gunpoint.
Two gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted Muhammad Waqar in Shadbagh police limits. He was deprived of cash and mobile phone worth Rs 130,000.
Robbers also looted passersby and motorists in Data Darbar, Samanabad, Johar Town, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area, Township, Gulberg, and Nishtar Colony police precincts and made off with cash, mobile phones, and other valuables worth 270,000 at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, two cars were stolen away from Mustafa Town and Johar Town police area while ten motorcycles were lifted away from Qila Gujjar Singh, Mughalpura, Bhati gate, Factory Area, Sabzazar, Shadman, Nawan Kot, Muslim Town, Shadbagh, and Township police vicinities.
