LHC judge stresses speedy justice

LAHORE – LHC judge Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik has stressed the need for stepping up efforts to ensure speedy justice.
“Delayed justice means denial of justice,” he said while addressing a concluding ceremony of Capacity Building Training Course designed for female civil judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy.
The participants of the course include Shabana Risalat, Ambreen Qureshi, Shazia Zafar Raja, Nadia Ikram Malik, Saira Noreen, Uzma Ahsan, Mehr-un-Nisa, Sobia Tirmazi, Shamaila Sheikh, Gul-e-Naseen, Aqsa Hanif, Zalay Huma, Aqsa Ghaffar, Huma Altaf, Afshan Ijaz Sufi, HIna Muzaffar, Poonam Adnan, Saira Chaudhary, Shabana Afzal, Nahid Ali Sher, Farzana Bashir, Ayesha Rasheed Awan and Shabana Hameed Mughal.
Ashtar Ausaf, Advocate General Punjab, District & Sessions Judge Lahore, Nazir Ahmad Gajana, Sardar Ahmad Naeem, Registrar of Lahore High Court and newly elected President of Lahore Bar Association, Mr. Nauman Qureshi also attended the ceremony.
The judge underlined the need for early dispensation of justice without fear or favor.
He advised the judges to render judgments with hard and honest work and curb the tendency of increasing the work of higher courts by deciding cases on technical grounds. Suppose in mind there is no forum of appeal against the case you are adjudicating and write comprehensive and complete judgments destined to be upheld in the higher courts in case of an appeal. This should be motto of the district judiciary, Justice Malik further said. A judge should earn respect by his judgments. You are judges of the people on earth and Allah Almighty is your Judge. Litigants and lawyers also judge your performance. Collective approach of lawyers about your work and conduct cannot be wrong and they have not uttered a single work against honest and hardworking judges. Justice Malik said that we are living in man’s dominated society where attitudes and customs more suited for men have been developed. But now this scenario is changing. This is your responsibility to make way for women folk and prove by your work that you can deliver better than men. Consider yourself as a judge and not a female while deciding cases.
Director General Punjab Judicial Academy, Mr. Justice (R) Tanvir Ahmad Khan and a representative of trainee judges, Miss Shabana Risalat also spoke on the occasion.
