Punjab medics treat 1,200 patients in Hunza

LAHORE Various teams of doctors from Punjab made under the instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif gave medical treatment and facilities to over 1,200 patients during last three days at the IDPs and affectees camps of Attabad Lake in Hunza. A consignment of medicines to treat malaria, cough, allergy and fever has also been sent to the affected areas. Giving details in this respect Additional Director Health Services (Hq), Lahore, Dr Mubashir Malik and Director Health Services, Rawalpindi Division Dr Zafar Iqabl Gondal informed that about 275 patients were provided medical facilities in IDPs camp of Altit, Baltit and Aliabad on Wednesday. They said more than three hundred patients were provided free medicine and medical checkup facilities in affected areas of Ataabad Lake in Hunza. They added that 255 patients were provided medical aid and medicines in IDP camp of Ganaish and 375 patients were examined in Aliabad, Altit and Baltit camps on Friday. The teams of doctors from Punjab Health Department also examined children and women and provided them free medicines. Meanwhile, Director Health Services Rawalpindi Dr Zafar informed that a consignment of medicines was also dispatched along with additional Director Health Services (Hq) Dr Mubashir Malik who carried with him medicines including antibiotics, cough syrups, anti-allergy medicines besides life saving drugs on Thursday from Islamabad Airport to Gilgit. Dr Mubashir from Hunza on Friday informed that the medicines were carried to Hunza and handed over to the teams of doctors. He informed that despite bad weather and hurdles in communication, the teams of doctors from Rawalpindi and Lahore presently operating in various affected areas of Ataabad Lake continued providing treatment to the affectees in various IDPs camps established in Hunza. He added that medical teams from Punjab would continue extending help to the affectees and the supply of required medicines would also continue as per instructions of Chief Minister Punjab till the crisis of Attabad Lake is over. Aghi Programme Students from Human Development Foundation school, Canal Housing scheme visited Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on a study tour on Saturday. The students also visited picture gallery. Meanwhile the NPT mobile unit 1 led by Prof Saeed Sheikh visited Madrissa Noorul Quran Usman Ganj. The unit no 2 led by Prof Abdus Salam visited Ghousia Ziaul Quran Model high school Ghaziabad. The mobile unit no 3 led by Muzammil Hussain visited schools Chauburji Branch and delivered lectures. The Unit no 4 led by Nadeem Raza Sheikh visited Jamia Liaqatia, Shadbagh presided by Mufti Mohammad Iqbal. The students were given prizes on correct answers and recitation of verses of Allama Iqbal. Sets of books were also given to the school libraries.
