Former NCA principal passes away

LAHORE - Noted painter and former principal of National College of Arts Prof Khalid Iqbal passed away on Thursday. He was 85.
Prof Iqbal, a great teacher and painter, associated with NCA during 1960s. He served the NCA as head of its department of Fine Arts and later he became principal of the college. He has been associated with fine arts and painting for more than 50 years.
He graduated in Fine Arts from Slade School of Arts, London, England. During his stay in England, famous English painter John Piper lauded Khalid Iqbal’s works, saying that this young man is matchless in painting natural beauty.
Expressing condolence the death of Prof Khalid Iqbal, NCA Principal Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri said the vacuum created by his death could not be fulfilled. He said he would be remembered forever for his services to the field of arts.  Khalid Iqbal’s funeral prayer was offered near to his residence in Model Town and a large number of people attended the funeral. He was laid to rest in a local graveyard.
