Matric exams conclude

LAHORE Annual Examination 2011 of Secondary School Part II (class X) was concluded on Saturday under strict vigilance at 624 centres established in five districts of the Lahore Division, said spokesman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore. He said that overall, 22 cases of unfair-means were reported. Impersonation cases against 4 candidates were also registered and FIRs were lodged against all students. Dr Muhammad Akram Kashmiri, Chairman of the Board personally visited 100 examination centres to ensure transparent holding of the examination. In order to eliminate the influence of Booti Mafia, monitoring of the examination centres was also conducted by the Mobile Inspector, Distributing Inspectors, Resident Inspectors and members of the Chairmans Special Squad. In the second phase, Secondary School Part-I (Class IX) Annual Examination would start from 21 March 2011 at 913 centres where 249,334 candidates are likely to appear. 180,862 candidates are appearing as regular students whereas 68,672 candidates are to appear in private capacity. For the first time in the history of Board examinations, candidates have been required to participate in the orientation workshop according to their group and time allotted by the Board.
