LAHORE - The registrar office of the Lahore High Court on Thursday objected to the petition of Shahid Aziz alias Gullu Butt challenging his conviction for smashing private vehicles outside Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town during a clash between PAT workers and police.
The office returned the petition as the attested required documents were not attached with the petition. Gullu Butt prayed the court that appeal against his conviction is pending before the court and he was hopeful that he would be set free. He further prayed the court to grant him bail as his appeal was not likely to be taken up in the near future.
Last year, an Anti-terrorism court awarded five years imprisonment to Gullu Butt under different sections including 7 ATA, 1997. The court also imposed a collective fine of Rs140100 on the convict.
