Court seeks reply from commissioner

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Tuesday directed the Lahore commissioner to submit reply in a petition seeking action against emergency service 1122 and fire brigade for their failure to extinguish fire due to which six siblings lost their lives at a house in Shadbagh.
Judicial Activisim Panel Chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed the application. He submitted that the Punjab government was wasting money in construction of metro, orange line and other road projects and not improving the fire brigade and ambulances.
He submitted that the government had failed to protect the lives of citizen which is violation of article 9 of the Constitution and cases may be registered against the officials of 1122 and fire brigade who had failed to save the lives of children, their vehicles are out of order and not reached in time. After hearing the initial arguments of petitioner’s counsel, the court sought reply from the commissioner.
