LAHORE - A large number of Lahorites thronged parks, gardens as well as City Zoo on the eve of Eidul Azha. Over 80,000 people thronged the City Zoo during the three days of Eid festivity and Zoo administration generated notable revenue on the occasion. Zoo sources informed this scribe that more than 40,000 people visited on the third day of Eid only whereas not less than 25,000 visitors thronged the Zoo on second day of Eid. Talking to TheNation, Deputy Director Lahore Zoo Zahid Bhatti said that zoo administration generated about Rs 8,94,000 on this Eid. He said Rs 1,24,000 was generated on the first day of Eid, Rs 2,70,000 on second day while about Rs 500,000 on the third day of Eid. He said that the revenue would be spent on the improvement of zoo development so that maximum facilities could be provided to the visitors. He said that the administration beefed up foolproof security for the security of the visitors. However, due to great rush of visitors, the zoo administration faced problems particularly during the entry of the visitors as some impatient youngsters, who usually avoid standing in queues, scuffle received minor injuries. However, hundreds of people came from far flung areas of the city and other cities could not enter the zoo due to great rush and because of its closing at 4pm on the third day of the Eid, which disappointed them particularly the children and they have to return home without seeing the animals. On the other hand, thousands of people also visited parks including Racecourse Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Central Model Town Park and gardens including Jinnah Garden and Shalimar Garden. Besides gardens and parks of the city, hundreds of families also visited historical places including Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, Jahangir Tomb and Kamran Baradari.
