Holds talks with Fazl | Says modern tech to be utilised for eradicating crimes

LAHORE - Head of JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town on Tuesday and discussed with him the tragic incident of Rawalpindi.
The Chief Minister on the occasion strongly condemned the sad incident at Rawalpindi and said that the elements responsible for the tragedy would not escape punishment. He said that Punjab government has formed a Judicial Commission to inquire into the incident.
The CM stressed the need for maintaining unity to foil the evil designs of the enemy. He said that the elements involved in Rawalpindi tragedy are enemy of Pakistan as well as of Islam.
He made an appeal to Ulema to promote the sentiments of unity and brotherhood among the people. Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the role played by Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman for defusing tension in the wake of Rawalpindi tragedy.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the sad incident at Rawalpindi was a conspiracy to promote bad blood among the Muslims. He said that people should maintain unity and harmony in their ranks.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif said that modern technology would be utilised for eradicating crimes and curbing anti- social elements as a number of countries of the world have controlled crimes by using latest technology.
He said that there is a need for Punjab police to adopt modern technology and evolve an effective system of rooting out crimes.  He said that the project of Coordinated Command and Control Center of Punjab police is of vital importance as its implementation will rid the people of Thana culture while a traditional police culture will also be changed.
Granting approval to the setting up of Coordinated Command and Control Center in Lahore as well as other big cities of Punjab, the Chief Minister directed that the project be implemented expeditiously.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting at Model Town here on Tuesday which was also attended by Provincial Minister Col.(Retd) Shuja Khanzada, among other officers concerned.
An international expert Dr. Amanat who has received training from Britain gave a briefing on coordinated command and control system.
The Chief Minister said that the use of modern technology is essential for rooting out crimes and therefore speedy progress be made in this direction.
He said that police force be introduced to latest technology for fighting crime and improving law and order situation. He said that intelligence sharing system can be further improved through the use of modern technology.
He said that the project of command and control center would help root out criminal elements as well as monitor the performance of police officials at police stations and their behaviour with the citizens.
The Chief Minister constituted a committee to identify suitable site for the establishment of command and control center and directed the committee to complete the task as soon as possible so that the project could be initiated without any delay. The meeting reviewed various proposals for the implementation of the project expeditiously.
MPS OF VARIOUS DISTRICTS MEET SHAHBAZ: Assembly members from various districts called on Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday.
Talking to the Parliamentarians, the Chief Minister said that the PML-N government is determined to counter the challenges facing the country.
He said that solid steps are being taken for resolving energy crisis.
He said that the Assembly members should play an active role for promoting sentiments of unity and brotherhood in the society.
The members included MNA Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Members Provincial Assembly Karam Dad Wahla and Waris Kallo.
GOVT TO END POWER CRISIS: CM
A delegation of the prominent German company in energy sector, Energiequelle Gmbh met Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday.
Chairman Planning & Development, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Secretary Agriculture, authorities concerned as well as leader of the delegation of the German company Helmut Fugemann, Michael Heyn, Stefan Rieck and other officials were also present.
The meeting decided to promote cooperation in energy sector while the German company expressed interest in setting up a 100 megawatt solar plant in Punjab.
The Chief Minister said that sincere efforts are being made for overcoming energy crisis in the country and PML-N govt is determined to resolve this problem.
He said that special incentives are being offered to foreign investors in energy sector. He there is a vast scope of generation of power from biogas and biomass in Punjab and Punjab government would welcome cooperation by the German company in projects of generation of electricity from biogas and biomass.
Helmut Fugemann said that his company wants to promote cooperation with Punjab government in energy sector and speedy steps would be taken in this regard.
