Gullu challenges conviction

LAHORE  - Shahid Aziz alias Gullu Butt Wednesday moved a writ petition to the Lahore High Court seeking suspension of sentence in charges against smashing private vehicles and cars parked outside Minhajul Quran.
Gullu Butt, in his application, submitted that the trial court could not appreciate the facts of the case as no one complained against him. He stated that among those persons whose cars were damaged never recorded statements against him.
On October 30, the ATC had awarded imprisonment of five years under section 7 of Anti Terrorism Act 1997, three months under section 186 of PPC (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), two years under section 353 of PPC (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), two years under section 427 of PPC (mischief causing damage and smashing vehicles) and two years under section 506 of PPC (punishment for criminal intimidation).
The court had ordered that all the sentences shall run concurrently. The court also imposed a collective fine of Rs140,100 on the convict.
