CM re-elected PML-N Punjab chief

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was re-elected unopposed PML-N Punjab president in the party polls held at Expo Centre yesterday.

Mian Shaukat Ali, who had announced contesting the PML-N President polls against Shehbaz Sharif a day earlier, withdrew his nomination papers in the morning.

Shehbaz Sharif’s unopposed election to the top slot of party in the largest province of the country has come about a day after the Prime Minister and his elder brother Nawaz Sharif was elected unopposed as President of the Central PML-N in Islamabad.

Chief Election Commissioner Manshaullah Butt announced the results before the Punjab council of the party, the electorate for voting the provincial office-bearers. Shehbaz Sharif resumed the seat of the Punjab President of the Party after he was announced elected.

The other office-bearers also elected unopposed included Provincial Minister, Malik Nadeem Kamran as senior vice president, two vice presidents namely Arshad Khah Leghari and Ms Nighat Perveen, Secretary Finance Mian Marghoob Ahmad and Secretary Information Samillah Ch.

Hundreds of PML-N members in loud voice greeted Shehbaz Sharif on his election for another four years and chanted slogans for him and the PM.
