PRACS MD gets Rs1m loan against rules

LAHORE - Managing Director PRACS, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has issued loan of Rs one million in his own name after the refusal of Director Finance, sources in the Railway revealed on Sunday. They said that said officer is serving PRACS, a sister organisation of Railway, on contract basis and he is not authorised to draw such huge amount in his name. It is violation of the Railway rules also, sources said. As per details, Mehmood had sent an application to Secretary PRACS, Aftab Akbar seeking issuance of Rs one million loan and also requested to deduct Rs 200,000 out of the said amount which he had already received from the Railway in the past. The secretary refused to allow the said amount as loan saying that there was no such provision in the railway rules for a contractual employee. On which the MD himself signed the cheque and asked the accounts department to deduct Rs 100,000 from his salary per month.
