Prisoners served human flesh, court told

LAHORE - Additional District and Sessions Judge Musharraf Hassan Sumra on Wednesday directed a petitioner to contact Kot Lakhpat SHO for recording his statement regarding his claim of discovering a human flesh (palm) in the food he was served when he was in jail. Dr Faheem was jailed under section 489/F in a case registered against him by the Faisal Town police. He has now sought the court direction for the SHO to entertain his application for the registration of a criminal case against the jail authorities. The petitioner also informed the court that jails medical officer Dr Numan administered to him drug injections which caused losses to his senses. He further alleged that Deputy Superintendent Shabraiz Chaudhry tortured him on the direction of his boss Mushtaq Awan. My foot nails were pulled out by the jail officials and I was kept hungry for days, he alleged. He prayed a case must be registered against Superintendent Awan and his subordinates, the medical officer, a warder and two other prisoners. He also prayed the court to direct the SHO to register a case under sessions 337/FII against the respondent party to probe the matter of human flesh in the jail food. On Wednesday, the Judge directed the SHO to entertain the application of the petitioner and proceed as per law. Consumer Court: The District Consumer Court on Wednesday issued a notice for May 26 to Hina Enterprises, a mobile shop, located in Arif Centre, Hall Road, in a suit of damages for allegedly selling a substandard mobile phone to the complainant Rana Amjad. The complainant in his suit took the plea that on February 8 he purchased a mobile 'U 707 worth Rs.1,950 from respondents shop but after two days the mobile went out of order. The petitioner said that he contacted the respondent who promised him to hand him over the mobile after removing its fault within the period of two days. He said but the respondent backed him mobile without removing its fault, and he also misbehaved with him when he again tried to complain the respondent. He said that respondent was also not ready to replace or remove the fault of the mobile. He prayed the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs.950 as Sale amount, Rs.2,000 as fuel consumption, Rs.20,000 as damages, Rs.2,00,000 as defamation in presence of his subordinates of the complainant and general public, Rs. 20,000 advocate fee. On his plea the court served the notice to respondent party for the comments due on May 26. Hamesh s bail plea adjourned till May 4: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday adjourned for May 4 the hearing of the bail petition moved by Hamesh Khan and his co-accused Sheikh Afzal in Rs 9 billion Punjab Bank loan scam on a request made by the counsel. Before the bench headed by Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Advocate Ahmad Awais made a request for giving him time to prepare for Sheikh Afzal, saying he recently engaged him for bail matter. Hamesh, the former president of the Bank of Punjab, was accused of sanctioning Rs 9 billion to Harris Steel Mills in violation of the rules and regulations. Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau through a written statement opposed the bail plea to Hamesh. Through the counsel, the NAB said Hamesh was a principal accused of the scam for he allegedly issued the loans on bogus papers. Therefore, he should not be granted bail, it was added. However, Hameshs counsel criticised the NAB reply submitting that the case had been investigated by a number of officers as if it had become a case with more than one version regarding his client. Reply sought from Foreign, Interior ministries : The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought reply within two weeks from the Foreign Ministry and Interior Ministry, in addition to Capital City Police Officer Lahore on a petition which prays for action under the law against the killers and recovery of the US Consulate Jeep which had crushed Ibadur Rehman to death at Qartaba Chowk on January 27. Ijazur Rehman, brother of the deceased, filed the petition and pleaded through his counsel that over three months had elapsed, but no action had been taken to arrest the driver etc, and impound the vehicle which had hit Ibad to death. The petitioner prayed to the court to direct the authorities to arrest the killers and recover the vehicle to initiate criminal proceedings against the accused persons. Ibadur Rehman was crushed to death by a US consulate vehicle which came to rescue US national Raymond Davis after he shot dead Faizan and Faheen at the said Chowk. The vehicle, after alter killing Ibad, had rushed to the US Consulate General Office, wherefrom no recovery of the vehicle as well as arrest of the killers made despite four attempts by the police. Meantime Raymond Davis case was dominating the scene, the accused were reportedly, sneaked out of the county.
