Most of the people relating to intellect know very well to Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal that he was not only a poet of his time placed at the top of the list of his contemporaries but also a thinker, poet, researcher, reformer, lecturer, orator and a true-Muslim.
Allama Iqbal was a dreamer of a true Muslim state. In his famous and notable speech known as Khutba-i-Allahabad, he reflected on an independent Muslim state, as far as the existence of this state would be taken place either within or in out of the boundaries of the subcontinent.
The true Muslim caliphate of Islam and its renaissance is basically the aim of Allama Iqbal which reflects from his poetry and message. For implementing Islamic practices and fulfilment of this dream of caliphate, Allama Iqbal struggled also through his academic as well as political activities. He denied western thought of "Superman" and introduced "Momin" - a true Muslim - follower of Islam in both faith as well as practice.
He compared a non-Muslim with a Muslim in these words: "A non-Muslim's identity is that he always runs for universe while a Muslim’s identification is that the whole universe runs towards him.”
However the Muslims of subcontinent are unlucky that despite they have gotten a separate state for their religious livelihood but the true spirit of Islam has never been implemented in the state.
Allama Iqbal did not claim himself as the founder of such state. We have destroyed Allama Iqbal's dream. We run after lust, wealth, worldly matters. We never try to implement Islam in Pakistan. We assume about ourselves as a nation who leads the Muslim World but we are false in this leadership. We are totally unable to be the leaders of the Ummah.
Is it that Islam for which millions of Muslims migrated for? Muslims were compelled to leave their relatives, home and lands. Is this the Islamic state and society for which our ancestors suffered, struggled a lot? Where is Islam in Pakistan?
This is a matter of great sorrow and pain that Islam, in its true spirit, has never been implemented in Pakistan, rather anti-Muslim and anti-Islam agendas are being implemented. The young generation is unable even to understand the bloodiest story of 1947 and onwards. This generation has no vision of the sacrifices of their elders made for achieving this country.
As Iqbal said, "That courage died. Our position is disappeared. We are disheartened. Home has been destroyed while you did not stood with us." (Translation by the author)
The Muslims of subcontinent have become unfortunate of their own present and future. We are becoming destined to be ruled by the experts of looting and corruption. Today, a Muslim in Pakistan is having a question on his life's face that where he should go? Where will Islam be implemented and when? This is not Allama Iqbal's Pakistan.
However, we should learn the lesson from our past and follow the ideology of our very own and great Allama Muhammad Iqbal who passed away on the same day, 77 years ago.
