LAHORE – Expressing his anger over alarming increase in the crime incidences taking place in the provincial metropolis, the Provincial Police Chief Javed Iqbal has demanded the police officers serving in the City to ‘deliver on emergency basis. Informed sources privy to the development told this scribe on Tuesday that the IGP chaired a special meeting at his office of senior police officers and expressed his severe anger over deteriorating situation of law and order in the provincial capital.
“Yes, the IGP Javed Iqbal expressed his reservations over recent crime surge especially the frequent dacoity-cum-murder incidents in the City,” said a highly placed source, adding the IGP also directed the CCPO Lahore Ahmed Raza Tahir and DIG G.M Dogar to prepare weekly performance reports and discuss the situation of law and order with IGP on weekly basis. According to him, the top cop himself is confused over the alarming increase in crime incidents in the City.
According to Nabeela Ghazanfar, DPR to IGP, the IGP has directed the big bosses of Lahore Police to chalk out a comprehensive strategy immediately to control the rising crime in Lahore so that the lives and properties of the people could be secured.
She said the CCPO Lahore Ahmad Raza Tahir, DIG Operations Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and SP Sadar Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, a newly appointed SP Investigation City Rana Shuja, SP Civil Lines Umer Saeed Malik, SP Model Town Malik Owais Ahmad and SP Operations Cantonment Hashmat Kamal attended the meeting.
