LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that 35,000 male and female students are benefiting from Punjab Endowment Fund of Rs8 billion while the number of students will reach to 40,000 next year.
He said that a monthly scholarship of Rs 200 per student is being given to the female students studying at primary level in the districts of low literacy rate and a huge amount has been allocated for this purpose.
He expressed these views while addressing an annual prize distribution ceremony of Al-Noor Centre of Education at Al-Hamra here on Monday.
He said that Punjab government was bearing the educational expenses of 20 talented students getting higher education in the field of science and technology abroad. He said 50 students more would be sent for higher education in the prestigious institution abroad.
The Minister said that Punjab CM had imposed emergency for education development and not for violation of the Constitution for taking over the power and the other provinces emulate the educational steps taken in Punjab.
