Court curious over shortage

LAHORE - Lahore High Court summoned joint secretary of petroleum ministry on Tuesday with directives for him to submit report on facts behind the fuel crisis.
Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada and Advocate Gohar Nawaz Sindhu had filed the petitions, saying that the government created an artificial shortage of petrol and defrauded the nation of billions of rupees. They said the shortage of petrol would soon cause an overall crisis like situation in the country.
The petitioners also appealed that a judicial inquiry should be ordered to fix responsibility for the petrol crisis.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah observed that the apparently the elected representatives of people were supposed to agitate the matter in assemblies. He said the court would like to know the reasons behind the petrol crisis.
However, a law officer requested the court to give some time. The Judge accepted his plea and adjourned the case till Wednesday (today).
