LAHORE – A policeman shot dead his sister over domestic dispute in the Shahdara area, police said on Friday.
Asad Ali, said to be a constable in Shera Kot Police Station, stopped his sister Najma Bibi near Shahdara More on Friday and opened straight fire at her. She sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police investigators said that the deceased had got registered a few cases against her brother and both had been appearing before a court over the litigation. The policeman had been forcing his sister to withdraw the case, but she was unwilling to accept his request.
On the day of incident, Najma was on her way to appear before a local court in connection with a case when her brother carried out the gun attack. The killer managed to escape from the crime scene. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. Further investigation is underway.
TRANSFERS/POSTINGS: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Habib-ur-Rehman has ordered transfers and postings of three police officers.
According to a notification, SSP Special Branch Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry has been transferred and posted as SSP CTD; while Lahore Security Division SP (Security-I) Tariq Mehmood has been transferred and posted as Gujrat SP Investigation against existing vacancies.
