Restoration of Katas Raj


LAHORE – In view of the expected visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Chakwal in August, the restoration work of the Katas Raj Temple site is under process.
In this regard, a review meeting was held on Friday at the Punjab Environment Protection Department in which senior officials of the Punjab Archeology Department and Environment Department, and Chakwal district officials participated.
Environment Secretary Saeed Wahla chaired the meeting during which the participants briefed him about the overall progress of the restoration work and measures being adopted by the Chakwal district management.
In view of Indian prime minister’s visit to Chakwal, Punjab chief secretary had constituted a special committee under the supervision of the Environment secretary and Archeology secretary to restore the Katas Raj Temple and its natural pond before August. The two secretaries also conducted a visit to Katas Raj Temple and issued instructions to the officials concerned for its immediate restoration.
