LAHORE - A guardian court yesterday issued warrants for arrest of Fizza Batool Gillani, daughter of former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, in an application filed by her former husband seeking directions for meeting with their minor son.
Guardian Court Judge Shazia Makhdoom directed the police concerned to produce the defendant before her by next hearing, September 3.
Khurram Khan, former husband of the lady, had filed the application and submitted that the court had in its previous order directed his former wife Fizza Batool Gillani to arrange meeting of her minor son Asfandyar with his father.
He said the defendant did not comply with the court’s order and did not allow him to meet his son as per the order of the court. The plaintiff requested the court to take action against the defendant for violating the order.
In another case, the judge issued notices to Managing Director and other authorities of PIA for offloading a passenger from the airline despite conformation of his ticket. Muhammad Hashaam, a passenger, filed Rs10 million damages suit against the airline. He submitted that the officials of the PIA at Islamabad airport offloaded him from a Lahore bound flight (PK-657) to accommodate some officers of the national flag carrier.
The counsel said the crew at the flight also misbehaved and manhandled the petitioner for resisting the illegal act. He prayed the court to order the PIA authorities to pay Rs10 million to the petitioner as damages for causing a mental and physical torture.
The airline’s counsel appeared before the court and sought more time to file replies on behalf of the respondent authorities.
Consumer Court Judge Tahir Nawaz expressed dismay and gave a last chance to the respondents to file their replies within three days.
